The brief for this project was somewhat unusual…….. the client provided us with details of a retail unit on one of Kendal’s busiest streets which was to be transformed into a state-of-the-art dental surgery together with a copy of the DVD ‘2001: A Space Odyssey‘ which, together with the client’s enthusiasm for the work of architect Oscar Niemeyer, were to provide the inspiration for the design of the new interiors.

The accommodation was compact and called for considerable ingenuity and detailed space planning to provide the required accommodation over ground, first and second floors comprising: an entrance lobby (air-lock!), reception, waiting areas and WCs, three dental treatment rooms, a hygienist's room,  decontamination room, and staff changing and rest accommodation.

A key requirement was to provide facilities for disabled access to all dental treatments.

Completed on time and within budget, we are delighted that the project won The Dental Awards 2013 Best Design and Interior.
